Retreat Cabana Club on the Neiuw Amsterdam

January 2011

When we saw that the weather for the cruise was forecast to be wonderful, we decided to splurge and rent a Retreat Cabana for the week.

This was by far, the best $299 we spent for the week! We really loved the cabana and we used it everyday.

The cabanas as located on the 11th deck in a very private and quiet portion of the ship. The entire area is reserved for cabana guests.

There are signs keeping people away from the area. If you are a guest, you simply just walk over the barrier.

Each cabana has two lounge chairs and a separate table and chairs for enjoying the champagne and food.

At lunch time you can be served lunch in your cabana. They also always have bottled water and fresh fruit available.

If it gets hot, they even pass out Evian water sprayers.

Did I mention that champagne is served each afternoon? This was a very nice touch. It was really nice being in a private cabana, enjoying some complimentary champagne, as we sailed out of each port.

Oh yeah, they also server a "snack" in the afternoon which was usually chocolate covered strawberries.

The cabana was great for the days at sea. It was very relaxing to spend the day in the cabana and look out over the beautiful blue Caribbean sea.

We reserved the cabana about a week before the cruise. We had to call guest services. We could not find the "Cabana Club" online.

I believe that only the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam offer this service.

Arnel and Juan were fantastic cabana stewards. They were very friendly and took good care of us. They were both super people. Arnel even gave us a handmade "going away" gift. (show above) Except that it had just turned 2011.... Oh well, the thought was there.
