Half Moon Cay

January 2011

Our first port was Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. This is an island that is owned by Carnival/Holland America.

We were on one of the first tenders which was key to the enjoyment. The beach is fabulous. No rocks, just powdery white sand and warm water.

As we walked the beach we noticed a ton of beach chairs. We were there with the Eurodam, so there were two cruise ships in port. Certainly all of these chairs aren't going to be used today?

We spent from 9 AM to 11 AM with the place to yourself. It was great.

Then about 11 AM the crowds started coming. By 12 noon all of the beach chairs were taken. It was packed. We were going to have lunch there, but the lines were very long. So we headed back to the ship at 1 PM and had lunch in our cabana.

Great beach. Doesn't look good for snorkeling. Get there early before the crowds.

(The picture shown above is one of the cabanas that you can rent. We did not rent one, since we had the cabana on the ship)
